Mirant Resolution
November 30, 2005
WHEREAS a traffic incident took place on November 23, 2005, on the premises of the Mirant Power Station in Dickerson, Maryland that involved BCE members utilizing the BCE Whitewater Course (“the Incident”);and
WHEREAS the actions of these members jeopardized the safety and welfare of Mirant employees and demonstrated a lack of regard for the rules and regulations governing the privilege of using the Whitewater Course; and
WHEREAS the BCE has reviewed with Mirant an appropriate response to the Incident, including an appropriate punishment to those involved in the incident; and Mirant has recommended a punishment with respect to the Incident and the BCE Board has accepted and imposed Mirant’s recommended punishment for the Incident; and
WHEREAS the BCE Board recognizes the need to take additional steps to ensure that a similar incident is not repeated and that all BCE members are reminded of the need to observe all rules and regulations in connection the use of the Whitewater Course; it is therefore
RESOLVED that BCE formally expresses it regrets and apologies to Mirant and its employees for the Incident; and it is
FURTHER RESOLVED that BCE shall take appropriate action through its website and otherwise to emphasize to its membership the importance and need to observe in all respects the rules and regulations that govern BCE’s access to the Course, including all traffic and safety rules in effect; and it is
FURTHER RESOLVED that all persons who are authorized by BCE to act as coaches or instructors for the Course shall advise all those who utilize the Course under their supervision of the need to observe all such rules and regulations.
